Andrew Cuomo, Hudson Valley Resident, Takes Over as Governor
The swearing-in ceremony was held Friday night in Albany
Andrew Cuomo was sworn in as New York State's newest governor in a private ceremony Friday evening. It was held at the Executive Mansion in Albany, his office announced.
"I am honored and humbled to accept this tremendous responsibility," Cuomo said in a media announcement.
The inauguration is notable for northern Westchester, where Cuomo lives. He is a New Castle resident—in a part of town that has a Mount Kisco postal address—and lives with girlfriend and Food Network personality Sandra Lee.
Locally, Mount Kisco's Via Vanti is celebrating the occasion by putting out a new soup in his name, Lago di Cuomo. The dish is described as "puree of warming winter greens served with a crostini topped with goat cheese, chopped tomato and fresh basil," according to a press release from the restaurant, which was republished by The Journal News. The soup will be a seasonal option, and $1 for every sale of the soup will go to the Millwood-based Food Bank of Westchester, according to LoHud.
