Dobbs Ferry Police Beat September 1 – 7: Yonkers Woman Charged with DWI, Man Charged in Money Order Theft

September 2
Windshield and Tire Slashed Causes $500 Damage
4:48 a.m. A 58-year-old Yonkers resident parked on Palisade Street reported that someone had broken his windshield on his Isuzu truck and slashed his front driver's side tire on an international truck, causing $500 in damages. This incident, criminal mischief in the forth degree, an E felony, occurred between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
September 3
Marijuana Found on Young Speeder
1:10 a.m. A 17-year-old Hastings resident was pulled over for going 46 mph on Broadway, a 25 mph zone. When pulled over, the officer noticed a green leafy substance he believed to be marijuana by the passenger side. He was issued a speeding ticket and charged with the unlawful possession of marijuana, then released on his own recognizance into the custody of his father. He'll return to court on September 16 at 10 a.m.
September 4
9 Driver Side Mirrors Smashed
Between 6:40 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., nine driver side mirrors were found smashed, approximate value $300, on Price Street, Hickory Hill Drive, Round Hill Road, and Ridge Street. A day earlier, on September 3, a 53-year-old woman reported her rear window was shattered on her 2002 Hyundai Elantra while parked on Broadway, resulting in approximately $150 in damage. Police are actively investigating this matter.
September 5
Wallet Lifted From Apartment
8:25 a.m. A 60-year-old resident of Beacon Hill Drive reported her wallet was stolen between August 20 and September 5, while she was away. The wallet itself is worth $50, and multiple credit cards were in the wallet, which makes this a grand larceny in the fourth degree, an E felony. There was no sign of forced entry, and police are investigating the matter.
September 6
White Plains Woman Charged With D.W.I & Resisting Arrest
9:15 p.m. A 37-year-old White Plains woman was pulled over when an officer saw what looked like a lost motorist driving down a Department of Public Works road. After turning on his lights and using the air horn, she eventually pulled over. The driver admitted to drinking when the officer asked. After failing the field sobriety tests, she blew a .16 on the breathalyzer, doubling the .8 legal limit. Struggling to break free while being placed under arrest for D.W.I, she was charged with resisting arrest as well. The vehicle, a 2008 Hondo, was impounded and she was released on $40 cash bail on the morning of September 7. She will return to court on September 16 at 10 a.m.
September 7
Man Charged in Money Order Theft
12:02 p.m. A 19-year-old man from Perth Amboy, NJ, was arrested while trying to cash a stolen money order at the Dobbs Ferry Post Office. Knowing it was a stolen money order, postal workers called police while he was in the office. The man was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, an A misdemeanor, and criminal possession of a forged instrument, an E felony.
