Does Your Child Struggle with Reading?

Attend a workshop at 7 p.m. tonight at Hillside Elementary School.

Attend the next Hastings SEPTA workshop, "Strategies to Help a Struggling Reader at Home" on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside cafeteria.

According to program sponsors:

The purpose of this session is to get ideas about how to enhance and support your children in the home setting. Our guest speaker, Susan Zucchero, is a reading specialist from the Rivertowns with over 15 years of experience in this critical area, ten of which are in the Rivertowns. This is an excellent opportunity for parents/caregivers of children who struggle in reading and/or writing. While the focus of this presentation is grades K-4, families of older children will still find this program to be useful and of interest, as they can adapt many of the ideas that will be presented.

Does your child struggle with reading?  What strategies have proven useful? If you have older kids, what advice can you provide for parents of younger children who are concerned about reading?

It is very crucial you listen to your kids. You have to be a good listener and, in the process, you may get to know the problems and difficulties your kids are facing. I am a mom and I do exactly this.

Bonding between parent and child is very important. It is the foundation of how you can begin to understand each other’s needs and really helps with a child’s learning in the long run. So your New Year Resolution should be like ‘ This year I will give more attention to my kids and improve our bonding” ! Good Luck.
