Food Fight: Best Sushi in the Villages

A weekly column surveying the best of Hastings, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Ardsley, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

So maybe it was the hot sauce and the Super Bowl and the beer talking, but our inaugural edition of Food Fight was a huge hit. Now we're onto the highly crafted delicacy of sushi.

People either won't touch the stuff or they love it dearly. If you love it, you surely have a strong opinion where you will or won't go to get your Japanese fix.

We want you to nominate the restaurants in Hastings, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Ardsley, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow that you think serve the best sushi.

  • Post your nominations in the comments section.
  • Then, we'll post a poll on Saturday giving you the option to vote for your nominees.
  • Voting will stay open through Monday morning, when we'll post the results!

Don't forget to nominate and vote for your favorite sushi spot!

(And feel free to upload photos of you and your friends eating, or maybe just the sushi itself which is often very photographic. iPhone images allowed...even encouraged.)

Let the sushi fight begin!

Gotta nominate Sushi Mikes. My friends and I were die-hard Sushi Man customers (in Ardsley), but now that they've closed, I'll nominate Sushi Mikes.

Nothing even comes close to Sushi Mikes. Its not only the best sushi in the Rivertowns, it is in the top 3 sushi places in New York! We have friends who visit from the city who can't wait to get sushi from Mike. Its not just that the fish is so fresh and delicious, its also the rice. I don't know what he does to it, but it melts in your mouth!

Can't believe that this is even a discussion. Sushi Mike's is an absolute. The other places are good, but Sushi Mike's is simply the best. There is a reason that the other places have plenty of seating on week nights when Sushi Mike's is crowded.

Wasabi in Sleepy Hollow is by far the best sushi, price wise. It's fresh, great quality sushi. And for a bit more in price and quality, sushi mike's is delicious.

Sazan, by DeCicco's in Ardsley. It is by far the best sushi I've had in Westchester or elsewhere for that matter. I hesitate to mention it because it is unknown to most.

SUSHI NIJI in Dobbs Ferry gets 5 stars, try their Niji Special Roll- there's absolutely nothing like it. In Sleepy Hollow go to WASABI. Excellent customer service and yummy rolls.

Wasabi is cheapest and friendliest but Haru Hana is by far the best. Sushi Mikes is good but don,t you think friendly people and atmosphere are as important.THink overall experience.

All of you commenting are voting in the (extremely non-scientific) poll, right? http://patch.com/A-qLrx (Non-scientific winner will be declared Monday. All you statisticians, remember this is all in good fun. (But did I mention sake bombs at Sushi Mikes???) Flaming sake. Gotta try it.
