Kudos to Irvington

Everyone, it seems, loves Irvington.

So the buzz about town seems to be all about Irvington being voted the best place to live in Westchester County.  From park benches, to the local watering holes, to waiting in line at Geordanes, it seems as though Irvington residents are beaming with pride and overflowing with love for their hometown gem.  I decided what better way to find out what exactly the locals loves about Irvington was to well, ask them!

Sheri Silver has been an Irvington resident for 18 years, and not only is she a wife and mother of 3, she owns a thriving local landscape design company call Fiori Garden Design. "What I love about Irvington…of course, there are all of the obvious reasons: it's charming, close to the river and has great schools and wonderful restaurants. But what makes Irvington so special to me is how this town has cared for me and my family for almost 20 years," Silber said. "Through babies, deaths, power outages and construction projects, we have been on the receiving end of more meals, care packages, babysitting and hospitality than I could ever tally. Irvington is 'small town' in the very best sense of the term and I feel so fortunate to call this place home."

Whereas that seems to be the vibe among long-time locals, I also found a stream of love from some of Irvington's newest residents.  Maggie Kadro— a mom of two young children—and her husband recently moved from Los Angeles, California to our little Rivertown community. "I love that after house hunting all over Westchester, we landed in Irvington." Says Maggie.  "After a quick 5 months I often find myself running into new friends. I love the small town feel even though we are only 30 minutes away from NYC."

When you think about it, I mean really think about it, where else has the quick and easy commute into NYC as well as the vast amount of beauty our little town has to offer?

Stumped you, didn't I?  Kudos to you, Irvington! Well deserved!
