Happy Day Before Election Day! (Election Day Eve?) Either way, in less than 24 hours residents across the area will have the opportunity--depending on where they live--to cast their ballots for county legislators, supervisors, mayors and town/village board candidates, among other positions.
So before the polls open tomorrow, take ours below: Will you be voting?
And then tell us in the comments: Why are you voting—or why not? Do you think the turnout will be high or low in your neighborhood?
Click here for a full rundown of candidates by location from the Westchester County League of Women Voters.
And then, on your local Patch page, click the “Elections” tab under News to stay up-to-the-minute with candidate information and elections results.

As I am disabled, my wife and I have voted by absentee ballot.

Wouldn't it be great if we had the largest turn out ever for an off-year election? The issues are certainly important enough for all of us to take part. This one is even historic, I would say, considering the very future of Yorktown.

That would be great YT, but that ain't going to happen. Just look at the turnout for the school budget vote.

I'm curious if you think same-day registration would help voter participation or (as I believe the argument runs against) increase fraud/confusion.

Katie, Motor voter was an invitation to fraud, this would not be any different.

Hi, Mr. McVetty, glad you're not mad at me for poking fun about size mattering. It was unkind of me. And as I said, sometimes big things come in small packages. :) Well, let's put it this way, I have one girlfriend who's calling on a phone bank on behalf of the Republicans and one who's calling on behalf of the Democrats and BOTH say that they are surprised by the response to their calls. Seems there's more interest in this particular election than any in recent years. So, I think the turnout, even though it's an off year election may be surprising to us all. Hope you and I can be friends again? Even if some of our opinions differ?

Yorktown Tattler :We can be if we stick to the issues. It is always easier to re post something if questioned thent go off on a tangent and say you should know what I mean. You post, I already answered you question[ go find it ]. You have done this more than once. I will copy and paste if necessary.
Now as to voter turn out that is a problem with the American voter. They have become jaded. They take this RIGHT for granted. Many Americans have died in order for us to have that precious right. I do hope that I'm wrong and people do come out and vote. It is not only their right but it is their duty. See you at the polls.

Francis, I think you'll be surprised at the turnout tomorrow. I've conducted an unscientific polling for more than a week (only delayed by the darned blackout), of all the friends I've met in Yorktown over more than 50 years -- of all political persuasions -- and not one of them said they were not coming out to vote this year, where they might have missed past off-year elections. Maybe we have to get into real trouble before we are more willing to participate. By the way, did you notice my predictions for the winners based on my research? What do you think of them? I was surprised by two of the results, very frankly.

It is not just my privilege to vote but my obligation! It takes a lot of effort these days to weed through the muck to find the information that is pertinent but it is well worth it for our communities future!

New York State should change the election laws to allow everyone the opportunity to vote by mail. Would increase turnout and participation. And, would cut down on election day expenses (inspectors, rent, voting machines, etc...). It's done in other states. Voter turnout during off year elections is usually very poor.

Paul, they can't even get the vote right with actual people voting at a machine, can you imagine the problem with doing it by mail?

Voting is important! The local elections will affect our day-to-day lives. If we elect inexperienced people, local services will suffer. That's why I am voting for the Democrats. White Plains's Democratic team has the support of Governor Cuomo, Mayor Tom Roach, and Congressmember Nita Lowey.

Every election we should remind ourselves of the political wisdom bequeathed to us by such political philosophers as Rousseau, Hume, Locke and Spicoli, the last of whom has provided the following:
"So what Jefferson was saying was 'Hey! You know, we left this England place because it was bogus. So if we don't get some cool rules ourselves, pronto, we'll just be bogus too.'"

J, It would have been difficult to talk anyway. Politics would have come up and you know that is a no no at the polls. I never miss an opportunity to cast my vote. More to come after they publish the results.
