Task Force Arrests Teen with Xanax, $11,000, Marijuana Cigarette

Police are investigating why a teenager had $11,000 cash on him.

Members of he Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force arrested a 17-year-old Mt. Kisco resident after observing him with a burning marijuana cigarette in Halsey Pond Park, police said.

Th teenager—who is believed to attend school in Irvington—was with two other teens, a 17-year-old girl from Irvington and an 17-year-old boy from Tarrytown when they were approached by police on Feb. 7.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered the teenager with the joint was in possession of $11,219 in cash and un-prescribed Xanax.

He was formally charged with two criminal counts of criminal possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance, the anxiety pills. 

Police seized the money and are continuing to investigate this aspect of the case.

The teenager was released into the custody of his father. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27.
