More About Greenburgh Hebrew Center
Greenburgh Hebrew Center, founded in 1947, is a conservative synagogue with 325 active members. The center has both a nursery school (for children ages 3 to 5) and a religious school that continues through high school.
Rabbi Barry Kenter describes the synagogue's community as participatory, vibrant, hands-on and warm. "Our services always have a lot of singing. They're traditional but not stodgy," Kenter said.
The synagogue offers adult education programs, youth groups, a sisterhood, men's club and a weekly program for young families.
Services are on Saturdays at 9:30am, but Kenter also performs all life cycle events, such as baby namings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and weddings.
The social action group, Tikkun O'Lam (repairing the world), is very active in such organizations as Midnight Run.
