Hastings now has a Tea Party! The brand new Southeast Metro Tea Party’s inaugural event is Tuesday night, August 13th from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Point (12378 Point Douglas Dr S). The new group will feature gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson and Congressional candidate David Gerson.
Southeast Metro Tea Party is led by two former legislative candidates, Janis Quinlan and Derrick Lehrke. Their focus for the new group is education and entertainment. Attendees will learn about the Tea Party’s principles of free markets, fiscal responsibility and Constitutionally limited government. But they’ll also get a chance to participate in a political entertainment segment with prizes. It’s a fun way to spread the message of liberty.
The event begins at 6 pm with a social hour and is followed by the main program at 7 pm. Cost is free and the organizers welcome anyone interested in the Tea Party movement to swing by and check them out.
