Just after some Monday rain washed away last week’s snow in the Rivertowns, freezing temperatures have turned what's left to ice.

In what weather experts are calling a “polar vortex” on Monday and Tuesday, wind chills are expected to be as low as 17 degrees below zero. For the latest weather in Dobbs Ferry, Irvington and Hastings-on-Hudson check the National Weather Service website and the above window.

Monday: A chance of rain and snow showers, mainly before 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. West wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Monday night: A slight chance of snow showers between 8pm and midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 4. Wind chill values as low as -17. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 9. Wind chill values as low as -18. Breezy, with a west wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 5. Wind chill values as low as -12. Breezy, with a west wind 13 to 20 mph.
