First Irvington Winter Farmers Market Wednesday

As the temperature finally drops, the Irvington Farmers Market moves indoors. Remember, though: the market only comes every month, so don't miss it!

Please swing by the Senior Center at 29 Bridge Street (in Scenic Hudson Park) tomorrow afternoon from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. for some fresh greens, breads and baked goods. Look for heart-warming pot pies from True Foods and Flourish Bakery. Flourish's holiday pies were such a hit at our pre-Thanksgiving market they are bringing lots more tomorrow. They will also have some vegetable muffins, loaves of gingerbread, cornbread and homespun banana breads—all perfect pick-me- ups after a day at the mall!

And, as always, their delicate and aromatic vegetable soups. Fork & Glass will also be selling their sumptuous soups —so satisfying they easily carry a meal.

Gaia's Breath will have their panoply of organic meats (lamb, pork, veal and  chicken) as well as their ever-popular sausage. They will also have organic eggs, artisanal goat cheeses, ravioli and house-cured pastrami.

Why not simplify your life and combine food shopping with gift shopping? We still have some rustic bags of cornmeal and wheat flour from the grist mill at Philipsburg manor which would make a great (& affordable) gift for any foodie on your list.

And who wouldn't  LOVE a bottle of fig-flavored balsamic vinegar! JD Gourmet will be there tomorrow with their always interesting array of infused oils and vinegars.

PLUS: some local jewelry-makers and artists will also be selling their handiwork (from whimsical note cards to unique handcrafted jewelry) to help you get a real jump start on your holiday shopping...And, of course, those hip Irvington Farmers Market t-shirts make perfect stocking-stuffers!
