Grab & Go Family Planner: Rubber Ducky Derby, Tree Planting, Service Dogs and More

Enjoy the Rotary's Rubber Ducky Derby Day, plant trees with The Rivertown Play Group and help raise money for dogs at ECAD's family fun day.

Finally, some awesome weather! A great way to kick- off the start of May. There are some fun things going on in our area this weekend and no doubt, you'll want to do more than one of them. Have a great weekend!

Spring Crafts at Lyndhurst
 
Where/When: Lyndhurst, 635 South Broadway, Tarrytown, on Friday, April 29 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. On Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to  5 p.m.
 
Why go: We've taken our kids to this several times and they love wandering through the different vendors, seeing the puppet show and dancing to the live music. There are more than 250 artists selling their crafts.
 
Pricing: $10 for general public. $9 for seniors and $4 for children. Free for Friends of Lyndhurst. You'll love what you see, so be ready with cash or credit cards to make purchases.
 
First Annual Hustle to Fight Hunger 5k Run/Walk
 
Where/When: Pace University's Dyson Hall, Entrance 1 861 Bedford Road, Pleasantville on Saturday, April 30 from 8:30 a.m. (registration). Walk starts at 9 a.m. and will last about an hour.
 
Why go: Run by the Junior League of Northern Westchester, proceeds from this event will help combat hunger. Bring the family out and enjoy this great morning. Some refreshments will be provided. Event takes place rain or shine. 
 
Pricing: $10 per person. Register here.


 
Where/When:Patriot's Park, 121 North Broadway, Tarrytown on Saturday, April 30 from 8:45 a.m. - 11 a.m.
 
Why go: We live here, so we should all pitch in to help clean our community. There will be some equipment, but you are encouraged to bring your own gloves. you are asked to park your car at the high school. Donuts and coffee will be available in the morning. This is great for families. This is co-sponsored by The Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council and the Sleepy Hollow Environmental Advisory Council. Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines

Where/When: Jacob Burns Film Center, 384 Manville Road, Pleasantville, Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 at 12 p.m. Movie runs 138 minutes.
Why go: This 1965 film is about a race in the air from London to Paris. This is an enjoyable film for all, but airplane buffs will love seeing these planes flying through the sky on screen.
Pricing: $1 tickets for children. $11 for adults and $6 for members. $1 surcharge for each ticket. Order here.
 
Stew Leonard's Farm Re-Opening
 
Where/When: Stew Leonard's, 1 Stew Leonard, Yonkers, Saturday April 30, starting at 1 p.m. Program will last about an hour.
 
Why go:A favorite of families in our area, stop by and welcome back the farm animals. Cows, sheep, chickens and goats will be back at their home and ready to greet the kids. My children love feeding the animals there, so bring your camera. There is a parade, face painting and other surprises too.

Why go:There will be a performance by Felix Pitre who will tell stories and share songs about Latin America.

The Rivertown Play Group's 'A Tree Grows In Westchester'
 
Where/When: Great Hunger Memorial Park, located between Exit 17 and on the Saw Mill Parkway, on Saturday, April 30 from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
 
Why go:Bring the family with kids ages 0-5 to plant a tree on the Saw Mill River. There will be face painting by Fantabulous Faces and Jilly Puppets will do a show about conservation. Raffles and gift bags too. To RSVP, email contact@therivertownplaygroup.com.

Where/When:Waterfront Park, Dobbs Ferry on Sunday, May 1 from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
 
Why go: This special event raises money for  There is so much to do at this outdoor program, including circus acts, games and more. Why go: Stop by to take a tour, check out the trucks and learn more about this fire department and get some home safety tips. Giveaways and refreshments too.
