Patch reader Laura Palmer sent the following message about the "Chemka Pool Regatta" held last weekend:

Hastings mayor Peter Swiderski and acting superintendent of recreation Kendra Garrison paddled it out in the last race of the Chemka Pool Regatta. Mayor Swiderski won in a boat built by the first prize winner of the design part of the contest. The first Chemka Pool Regatta was held July 22, 2012. Contestants had to build their owns boats using only corrugated cardboard and duct tape. A great time was had by participants and spectators alike. Way to go Hastings Recreation Dept.!
