New Monuments Approved for Dobbs Ferry Cemetery

The beginnings of a new fence at the Little White Church Cemetery are also in the works.

The Village of Dobbs Ferry is continuing to tackle the refurbishment of the Little White Church Cemetery.

In August, the Board of Trustees approved a proposal for a war memorial monument to accompany the previously-approved American Revolutionary Monument, according to an update from Mayor Hartley Connett.

"This new monument will honor the war dead buried in the cemetery, identified with the help of the Historical Society and the review of old burial records," he wrote. "The plan is to have the memorials in place by early fall, in time for Veterans Day and a re-dedication of the property."

The village already has tackled the refurbishment of many of the cemetery's headstones. View photos of that effort here.

The street-facing portion of the Ashford Avenue cemetery also has some additional work underway.

"As many of you have noticed, installation of the new rail fencing atop the stone wall along Ashford Avenue has commenced, and the stone and column restoration work will start shortly," he said. "As things move forward on this project we will keep everyone informed."
