Seniors' 'Penny' Social' Friday; Donations Still Appreciated

Please bring new or gently-used gifts to the Dobbs Ferry Senior Center on Palisade Street as soon as possible.

In 2012, a "Penny Social" has become more of a dime social, really, but the concept is still the same:

On Friday, senior citizens from all four Rivertowns can come to the on Palisade Street and buy ten tickets for only $1 to be entered into lotteries for prizes like: jewelry, gift baskets and other new or gently-used gift items.

The annual fundraiser helps support "little extras" for Rivertowns seniors, like pizza parties and barbeques, said Dobbs Ferry Senior Advocate Abby Connett.

Connett is thrilled with the number of donations they've already received, but she says there's always room for more.

There will also be a basket with larger prizes for which each individual ticket costs $1.

Please bring all donations to the Senior Center (located near the Metro North station on Palisade Street) before Friday.

The event will be on March 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
