Dozens of Hastings-on-Hudson residents—and several out-of-towners—gathered at the James Daly Post 200 VFW on a brisk Veterans Day morning to witness the unveiling of two new memorials.

Emotions ran high as Hastings Historical Society President Sue Smith welcomed the crowds and introduced a number of guest speakers.

Grace Episcopal Church's Rev. Ann Pearson provided the ceremony's invocation and Mayor Peter Swiderski shared how personal the meaning of the two wars are for him, as well as many in attendance.

Next, Peter "Greg" Muraik, a Vietnam veteran, spoke about bringing the idea for the two memorials to fruition.

The memorials were funded by multiple private donors.

Finally, veterans from both wars unveiled the two memorials, which are now on display in front of the VWF building at the intersection of Warburton Avenue and Spring Street.
