Free Car Washes for Veterans at Splash Car Wash
When/Where: Friday, November 11 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at all Splash Car Wash locations in NY and Connecticut
Why Go: For all those who are actively serving or have served in the US Military, this car wash company with 17 locations is offering a complimentary car wash in a show of appreciation.

10th Annual Terry Ryan Memorial Run
When/Where: 'Fun Run starts and 12:30 p.m. Sunday and the 5k and 10k start at 1:30 p.m. at the Hastings High School Cochrane Gym entrance on School Street.
Why Go: Challenge yourself while participating in an activity that commemmorates the untimely death of a Hastings resident and volunteer firefighter.
Price: Fun Run $5, Other runs: before Nov. 13 $15. On Nov. 13, $20.
Thanksgiving Family Story Time and a Candy Experiment Party at Ruth Keeler Memorial Library
When/Where: Saturday, November 12, 10:30 a.m. for story time and 3 p.m. for candy party at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library in North Salem
Why Go: Kids of all ages can come to hear and share great stories, and do activities about Thanksgiving. At 3 p.m., kids ages 8 and up are invited to become candy scientists—there will be experiments to unwrap the secrets inside your sticky, sweet and colorful treats. Please bring in any sour candies, Skittles or plain M&Ms from Halloween.

Around the World Performance Series: Dance China New York
When/Where: Saturday, November 12 from 2 p.m-3 p.m. at Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk, CT
Why Go: The New York Chinese Cultural Center will present elaborately costumed artists who will perform cultural dances and songs from China including the beautiful Chinese Ribbon Dance.

Peekskill Elks National Free Throw
When/Where: Saturday, November 12, 9 a.m. at the Kiley Recreational Youth Center in Peekskill
Why Go: This is a "Hoop Shoot" contest for boys and girls ages 8-13. Come out and do your best. Groups will be determined by contestant’s age as of April 1, 2012. Must bring along a copy of birth certificate, passport or baptismal certificate.

Why Go: A show for true lovers of jazz, the legendary Stanley Clark performs with his band this Saturday. The Grammy-winning artist is known for his innovative work on double bass and bass guitar along with many television and film scores

Hudson Crafts Collective Holiday Craft Show in Croton
When/Where: Sunday, November 13, 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at the Umami Café, 325 S Riverside Ave, Croton- on-Hudson
Why Go: There will be hundreds of unique items, all handcrafted by Hudson Valley artisans. Chat with the artists; support the local arts community by doing some early holiday shopping. Articles to be included in the show include lamp-worked and fused glass, hand-woven fibers, felted artwork, origami and Japanese paper gifts, ceramics, mosaics, beaded jewelry, furniture and more.

Westchester Chamber Symphony Concert
When/Where: Saturday, November 12, 8 p.m. at the Christopher J. Murphy Auditorium/ Iona College, in New Rochelle
Why Go: Hear beautiful music as The Westchester Chamber Symphony’s 15th season opens with pianist and New Rochelle native Adam Kent performing Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto no. 1, op. 35. Additional selections on the November program are Mahler’s Adagietto from Symphony no. 5 and Janacek’s Idylla.

Fall on the Farm 2011 at Stone Barns
When/Where: Sunday, November 13, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture
Why Go: It will be a day of family activities and adult workshops celebrating the fall season. Help feed the turkeys, prepare the fields for winter, and collect ideas and ingredients for your Thanksgiving table, including homemade beeswax candles.
