Artists Open Their Doors, Encourage Young Talent

The RiverArts Studio Tour drew arts aficionados and aspiring artists to Hastings, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington and Ardsley.

About 70 artists, most from the Rivertowns, displayed their fine art and crafts on Saturday and Sunday for the RiverArts 2011 Studio Tour, talking about their work with arts enthusiasts and each other. Some opened their personal studios; others showed their work at larger venues, like the and the Metro-North Railroad station in Irvington.

While many of the artists were established professionals, some brought new talent to the mix, including three students from Irvington High School. In a few cases, young people showed samples of their own work to artists who inspired them. Artists took advantage of the casual atmosphere to chat with them and ask them about their creations.
