Exit Through the Gift Shop
Exit Through the Gift Shop is a 2010 docu-comedy directed by Banksy, the British street artist shrouded in anonymity. The film follows an eccentric French shop keeper and amateur filmmaker (Thierry Guetta) who hopes to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner. The film features footage of Banksy as well as a number of today’s most influential urban artists including Shepard Fairey (creator of the Barack Obama “Hope” poster) and Invader.
This film opens the Contemporary Documentaries Film Series, which is curated by Bonnie Katz. Later films in this series are to be announced.
