Opera Tosca (Movie)

The Irvington Town Hall Theater Commission Presents:

Tosca by Giacomo Puccini

Come see some of the world's greatest operas, from Europe's greatest opera houses, at the Irvington Town Hall Theater. No airfare required!!

Blasted by one English critic as a "shabby little shocker," the libretto was condemned as unsuitable for an opera as it includes scenes of torture, murder, attempted rape, suicide, and execution.

Just the thing to brighten your Saturday afternoon!

Yet Puccini fashioned from these unpromising elements one of his most enduring music dramas that has held the stage all over the world for more than 100 years. Experience Puccini's soaring melodies and discover why this "tawdry melodrama" continues to entrance audiences of today.

This production stars real-life couple Daniela Dessi and Fabio Armiliato in the roles of Floria Tosca, the fiery soprano, and Mario Cavaradossi, the painter/ revolutionary. Taped June 10, 2010 at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Italy.

2 hours and 30 minutes (including two intermissions.)

General Admission: $22
