Dobbs Ferry PD: Valuables Taken from Unlocked Cars

A number of residents have reported to police this morning that their cars were entered overnight.

Valuables left in unlocked cars in the Northfield Avenue neighborhood have gone missing, according to Dobbs Ferry Police.

The department reported receiving multiple reports of larcenies that appear to have occurred overnight into this morning.

A Northfield Avenue resident called police at 6:54 a.m. to report a $500 Garmin GPS, $200 sunglasses and loose change were taken from her vehicle sometime after 9 p.m. Sunday night.

Her vehicle was parked in front of her home.

A Blanchard Avenue resident at 7:59 a.m. reported two Garmin GPS units, worth $500 total, had gone missing sometime after 7 p.m. last night. Also missing from the vehicle, parked in front of the residence, are a $300 pair of sunglasses, $30 in change and a $100 pair of headphones.

A second Blanchard Avenue resident reported around the same time two pairs of missing sunglasses from a vehicle parked on the street.

All the vehicles were unlocked at the time and had valuables in plain view, police said.

A few other residents of the neighborhood said their unlocked cars were also entered overnight, but nothing was taken.

Police are urging residents to keep their vehicles locked and valuables out of sight.
