PR, Marketing and Business Development with Go Visible! of Hartsdale

This new Patch series, which highlights local businesses, is as much about supporting companies as it is about celebrating the places and faces that make our community special.

Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community.

Our spotlight today is on Harriet K. Lerner, Owner of Go Visible!

How did you come up with the name?
I thought of "Go Public" and that led me to  Go Visible! Actually my son named the business, and he wants royalties.

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?
Near enough to central hubs like White Plains and Yonkers but not IN them.

Briefly, what business are you in?
PR, writing, marketing, business development

What's the most difficult moment or challenge you've faced as a business owner?
We serve the real estate market and when it is down it affects us. But it never goes away. Realtors, attorneys, title and mortgage. We are big networkers and can brand ANYONE or any company.

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
Challenges are constant but we never give up. Also we represent an entity, HGAR, 9,500 Realtors strong, that is a great source of  marketing work for us, for years, mind you. Check out our tremendous LinkedIn profile!

What's been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
Helping clients stand out, at HGAR, or my non-profit, Gift of Life. It's about our clients, NOT ABOUT  US.

What's the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
Service to the community becomes more and more important to me and my business.

How do you deal with difficult customers?
Walk.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
I serve at Soup Kitchens. I am on the board and do the PR for Gift of Life, a Rotarian-sponsored charity that brings heart-damaged children here for surgery that their countries cannot give them.

I served on a national non-profit in the mortgage industry for over ten years.
I am an active Rotarian in White Plains. There are many service programs.

The plan behind this new series at Patch is to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.
