Doctors Express Hartsdale Reaches Highest Urgent Care Standards Award

Doctors Express Hartsdale NY has received the much-coveted designation of a Category 1certified urgent care center. The UCAOA awards 2 levels of urgent care certification, Category 1 which means that patients will only be seen by a licensed physician during all posted hours, and Category 2, which allows patients to be seen by other providers such as a physician assistant or a nurse practitioner.

The owners of Doctors Express felt it important that their walk in patients be seen exclusively by a physician.

“We are pleased with receiving the distinction of getting this certification from the Urgent Care Association of America.  This corroborates our mission of delivering quality medical care in a state-of-the-art facility, providing our patients with the best possible care in treating their immediate medical needs”

Says owner Dan Purugganan.

The accreditation will mean that the center be inspected every 3 years to insure that it is conforming to the standards of the certification. It also expects that the center include all the treatment requisites that are expected at a certified urgent care center. Doctors Express must see patients on a walk-in basis, 7 days a week, has up to date on site x-ray and lab services, be prepared to treat most non-life threatening ailments and injuries, and be prepared to administer cardiac life support in an emergency.

More and more people are utilizing urgent care facilities as an alternative to the emergency room to avoid the long waits and high costs, and to their primary care doctor when they can’t wait for an appointment.

Above all, this accreditation ensures people that the center has met certain national criteria that tell the patient, about the center, services they offer and when they are available, making treatment as accessible as possible.
