        SPOTLIGHT ON BRENDAN WORTNER:

At Oberlin on October 19th, Brendan Wortner of Dobbs Ferry and the Geneseo men's cross country team finished second to N.Y.U. with 93 points, as he finished 10th of 283 harriers, clocked at 25:37.5.

In a 2-0 shutout of visiting Bridgewater State on October 16th, Travis Blair of Hastings and Wheaton played a role in each of the Lyons' goals. He assisted on the first, which came at 12:49, and then scored the second, unassisted, at 53.37. At Emerson on October 19th, he opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at 9:02, and was game high in shots with eight, three on goal, as the record reached 11-5.

In a home loss to Redlands on October 16th, Rebeccah Bortz of Dobbs Ferry and Chapman U., played off the bench in the 2-1 setback. Hosting Whittier on October 19th,

she had one shot in the 4-0 blanking of the Poets. The record is 9-6-1:6-4.

Emily Braun of Irvington and Clark U. played  in the 2-0 loss to guests Springfield on October 15th. At home with Babson on October 19th, she played off the bench in the 2-1 loss to the Beavers. The current record is 4-10:1-5.

At Plymouth State on October 16th, Claire Brooks of The Masters School and Gordon, had playing time in the 2-1 win. while on October 19th, hosting Wentworth College, she also saw action in the game. The record is now 14-2.

In a 4-0 loss at home to Nichols, Lisa Bucci of Irvington and Salve Regina had four shots on goal in their field hockey game on October 26th, and then on October 19th at Johnson & Wales, in the 8-3 win over their hosts,

she scored the team's 3rd goal at 14:57, unassisted . The record stands at 7-7:5-3.

In a 35-10 win at Gettysburg on October 19th, Darnell Davis of Hackley and Muhlenburg, had 1 tackle and 1 assist in the game, with the record now 4-2.

In cross country running at Christopher Newport on October 19th, the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays captured both the men's and women's races. Julian Saliani of Irvington was 4th out of 147 runners in the men's 8K race, with a time of 25.34.3, and Abby Flock of Irvington/Hackley, was 7th out of 147 entrants, in the women's 6K race, clocked at 22:47.

At Utica on October 19th, the Ithaca football team emerged victorious, 26-21, wherein Skyler Griffenberg of Ardsley had one tackling assist and sacked the quarterback, while Steve Delmoro of Hackley was the offensive tight end. The record is now 5-1.

Freshman Katie Gallop of the Hackley School and Williams College's field hockey team, in a 5-0 loss to guests Skidmore on October 16th, was a starter in the contest, while hosting Tufts on October 19th, she also started in the 3-2 loss. The record is now 4-5.

In a 40-21 loss at Trinity on October 19th, Brian Glazewski of Irvington and Bowdoin had a most active day on defense, as he had 4 tackles, 6 assists, sacked the quarterback twice, had 2 thrown for losses, and 1 forced fumble. The Polar Bears are now 2-3.

Josh Gorlick of Hastings and a senior tight end at Occidental College, has seen action in each of the Tigers'

first five games, with the most recent contest a 36-16

loss /to Chapman U. on October 19th. The record is now 2-3:1-2 

Goal tender Alexis Lorusso of irvington and Albright , in a winning 4-0 at Lycoming on October 15th, played the first 74:49 minutes in the nets for her team, during which stretch she had no goals against and made 3 saves, with the record now 6-6-1:2-0

Alex Sinatro of Hackley and Johns Hopkins had one carry, good for 3 yards, as the Blue Jays record rose to 6-0 in a win over Dickinson College on October 18th.

Running back Robert Small of Sleepy Hollow and Anna Maria had another impressive game on October 12th in the 36-10 win over Husson, including 5 pass receptions for 98 yards, while in a 56-34 loss at Mt. Ida on  October 19th , he scored two touchdowns, the first coming on a 74 yard run in the first quarter, and the second on a 2 yard run in the third quarter. The Amcats are now 1-5.

Goalie Tom Spenser of Hastings and Rhode Island U. played the full game at Virginia Commonwealth U. on October 13th, and had 6 shots on goal, 3 goals against, and 3 saves in the 3-1 setback, while at UMass on October 20th, in the 3-1 loss , he had 8 shots on goal, 3 goals against, and 5 saves. The record is now 2-8:0-2.

In a 3-0 volley ball loss at home with Springfield, Emma Sweeting of Hastings and Mt. Holyoke, had 3 spikes, a team high of 8 kills,, plus 3 serving aces and 5 digs. The record is now 9-11:0-8.

Sophie Sylla of Ardsley and Binghamton's women's soccer team, in a game with Hartford as the guests on October 17th, dropped the game, 2-0, while at home with Stony Brook on October 20th, she also played in the 2-0 loss, with the record now at 7-6-2:2-3-1.

squad, in a scoreless tie at Amherst on October 19th, was in the starting lineup for the Cardinals. The record is now 0-6-4: 0-4-3.

Aimee Tavzel of Ardsley and the Cornell U. women's soccer team, had 1 shot in the 7-2 loss to Harvard on October 12th, while at Yale on October 19th, the Big Red dropped a 1-0 game, with the record now at 7-4-2:1-3.

Lisa Tessitore of Dobbs Ferry and the Stevens Tech women's tennis team, in the National Small College Championship at Ft. Myers, FL on October 12th and 13th, finished in 7th place in doubles competition, with a score of 6--2,4-6,(10-8). On October 19th and 20th, in the Empire 8 Championship at Ithaca, the Ducks lost to the hosts, 5-1, with Tessitore and her doubles partner dropping their match, 8-6.

In a 471 runner cross country race at U.Wisc-Lacrosse on October 19th, Rebecca Wiersma of Dobbs Ferry and Carleton College finished 383rd with a time of 27:12.6, as her team was 16th of 38 entries in the race.

Mac Yumoto of Hastings and N.Y.U.'s men's soccer team,

played off the bench in the Violets' 2-0 loss to hosts Emery on October 19th, with the record now at 6-5-3:0-3-1.
