COLLEGE ROUNDUP - SEPTEMBER 9/16-22

 Lisa Bucci of Irvington and Salve Regina, hosting a field hockey matchup with Western New England on September 18th, played the premium game of her college career, as she had 6 shots, all on goal, scored on 4 of them, and had 1 assist in the rout of the Golden Bears. Travis Blair of Hastings and Wheaton College, in a soccer game at New England College on September 17th, scored both of his team's goals, with the first coming at 4:16 and the second at 18:41. He led all players with 7 shots and 5 on goal in the 2-0 victory. Hosting Springfield on September 21st, he had 6 shots, with 2 on goal in the 1-0 victory, with the record now 7-1. With Keene State as guests on September 18th, Emily Braun of Irvington and Clark had 1 shot on goal in the 4-1 loss, while with Smith at home on September 21st, in the 2-1 loss, she had 1 shot. The record is now 2-5. Claire Brooks of Masters and Gordon College, in a home soccer game with previously unbeaten Brandeis on September 18th, saw action off the bench in the 3-0 win, and then with Salve Regina on September 21st, she played in the 5-0 shutout with the record at 7-1-0. In a home football game with McDaniel on September 21st, Luke D'Allesandro of Hastings and Muhlenberg gained 1 yard on the ground and had 1 tackling assist in the 58-0 rout of the Green Terror. The record is now 2-1. Skyler Griffenberg of Ardsley and a free safety for the Ithaca Bombers, in a game at Union College on September 21st, had 2 solo and 2 tackling assists, and broke up a pass in the 17-3 win, with the record now 2-0. Sean Degnan of Irvington and Springfield, in an away game with Mt.Ida on September 21st, was the starting offensive right tackle in the 41-0 rout of the hosts, with the record at 3-0. Michael Kennelly of Irvington and Oneonta State, at the multi-schools regional tennis tournament at Ithaca this weekend, dropped his singles match, 6-4,6-2, and also his doubles match, 8-3. Alexis LoRusso of Irvington, and a goal keeper for the Albright College women's soccer team, in a game at De Sales on September 17th, had 2 goals against in the 2-0 loss to their hosts. while at Kings on September 21st, she had no goals scored and recorded 3 saves in the double overtime scoreless tie. The team's record thus far is 2-3-1. After finishing first for her team at a meet on September 14th at Franklin Pierce, with a clocking of 23:47, Joanne Mumbey of Dobbs Ferry and the Johnson and Wales cross country team, in a meet at U. Mass-Dartmouth on September 21st, she once again led her team as she finished 81st with a time of 20:26 and the squad 20th of 28 schools entered. Nick Pastore of Hastings, and a soccer player for the Yellow Jackets of the U. of Rochester, saw action in the 3-0 shutout win at Geneseo on September 17th. Nicole Riehm of Irvington and the College of Mt. St. Vincent women's volley ball team were still seeking their first win of the season (0-8) when they hosted The College of New Rochelle on September 19th, but lost again, 3-1. Facing St. Joseph's of Brooklyn on September 21st, the losing streak was broken as the Dolphins topped their opponents, 3-2, with Riehm having 4 spikes,5 kills, and 2 service aces in the win. Goalie Tom Spenser of Hastings and the U. of Rhode Island in an away soccer game at New Hampshire on September 18th, had 7 shots on his cage, 4 goals against, and made 3 saves in the game. The record is 1-4. Emma Sweeting of Hastings and Mt.Holyoke, in volley ball action at home with Babson on September 17th, had 10 kills in their 3-0 setback, while at Emerson on September 21st in the 3-2 loss, she had 5 spikes,10 kills, and 3 service aces, with the record now 8-2. Sophie Sylla of Ardsley and Binghamton's women's soccer team, in a contest at Cornell on September 18th, had 1 shot in the game . Sarah Sylla of Ardsley and the Wesleyan women's soccer team, in a game at Salve Regina on September 18th, a 4-0 loss, while hosting Bates on September 21st, she scored the Cardinal's first and only goal in the 37th minute of play - the first tally of her freshman soccer career, as she converted a teammate's corner kick, and then, in the 70th minute, a Bobcat tied it up, with the final score being 1-1. The record is 0-2-2, 0-1-1. Aimee Tavzel of Ardsley and the Cornell women's soccer team, played in a game with Binghamton, a 2-0 shutout, while at home with Cincinnati on September 20th, she also played in the Big Red's 1-0 loss to the Bearcats .
 Lisa Tessitore of Dobbs Ferry and the Stevens Tech tennis team, in a match at home with Drew on September 18th, won her singles match, 6-1,6-2, as the Ducks blanked the Rangers,9-0, for their third consecutive win. Rebecca Wiersma of Dobbs Ferry and Carlton College, in a cross country meet at St. Olaf on September 21st, finished 198th out of 251 runners in the women's 6k race, while her team was second on the day, with 68 points. Mac Yumoto of Hastings and N.Y.U., in a soccer game with Hunter on September 18th, had 1 shot in the 3-1 win, as the record is now 6-1.
