Fall Sports Preview

  RIVERTOWNS FALL  COLLEGE ROUNDUP PREVIEW

The Fall 2013 college athletic season will shortly be under way, and  sixty-eight Rivertowns athletes are preparing to take their skills to the soccer field, the rowing waters, the gridiron, the tennis  courts, the cross country trails, and the volley ball courts.

Alphabetically, the list includes Irvington, Glenn Balbous of The Masters School will wield the foil at Johns Hopkins, Travis Blair of Hastings returns to Wheaton as the Lyon's' highest scorer on the soccer team, Rebecca Bortz of Dobbs Ferry, another big goal scorer at Chapman, plays her third season of soccer for the Panthers, Aaron Brown of Ardsley begins his tennis playing at Binghamton,  Lisa Bucci of Irvington, and a high point producer in field hockey at Salve Regina, plays her third season of the game this Fall , Ardsley graduate Allison Choi will test her soccer ability at Seton Hall, Hastings' Luca Cobucci returns to the gridiron at Wesleyan,  Elizabeth Cornell of Dobbs Ferry will again man the oars at Lehigh, Luke D'Allesandro again dons the football togs at Muhlenberg,  Ardsley alumnus Dakota Daniso will again be on Bryant's football roster, Footballer Kevin Degnan will again play the sport at Western New England. as will brother Sean

at Springfield, Junior Jane Dietrich, an alumna of Irvington, will play soccer at Gordon, Ardsley's Chris Dinaso continues football at Curry, Irvington graduate Annie Fields will again run cross country at Oberlin, Dobbs Ferry's Brian Glazewski, a graduate of Rye Country Day School, continues his football at Bowdoin as a tight end. Hastings' Josh  Gorlick of Hastings, will play football in his senior year at Occidental, Penn Gottfried of Ardsley, returns to 125 pound wrestling at Columbia, Jesse Gourevitch of Ardsley, will again swim for Carleton College,  Skyler Griffenberg of Ardsley, will again play football at Ithaca, Jaron Hickman of Ardsley, will again be an outside line backer at Springfileld, while Tina Hinman of Hastings and The Masters School, will dive again at Washington of St. Louis, Hastings' Alex Holdstein, will play his senior year of tennis at Hartford, Nora Howe of Hastings will run cross country as a senior at Haverford, Rina Inabi of Irvington launches her college tennis at Stony Brook, Yolanda Jones, will play volley ball again at Virginia University of Lynchburg, Gabrielle Kayton of Ardsley, begins cheerleading at Central Florida, Michael Kennelly of Irvington plays his senior year of tennis at Oneonta, Dobbs Ferry's Sarah King, will run cross country at Vassar, as a sophomore. Samanth Lee of Ardsley, will fence as a sophomore at Duke, Alexis Lorusso, soccer goalie at albright, is back for her second year in the nets, Lea Mack of Irvington, continues fencing at Brandeis, Sarah Madigan of Hastings, will play her sophomore year of squash at Haverford, Peter Malarczyk of Hastings, joins the swimming team at Geneseo, Ali Marpet, of Hastings, continues his role of offensive guard at Hobart, Dobbs Ferry's Joanne Mumbey,continue running cross country at Johnson & Wales, Christina Paparo, of Irvington, once again will run cross country at Loyola of New Orleans, Brett Pastore of Ardsley being wrestling at Shippensburg, Nick Pastore, of Hastings, returns to soccer at Rochester, Emily Polstein of Hastings continues running cross country at Oberlin. Martha Prince of Ardsley again will row for Skidmore, Ilana Regenbogen of Ardsley, will wield the foil at Johns Hopkins again Jonah Rosenbaum of Ardsley, plays football again at Lewis & Clark, Julian Saliani Irvington begins his senior year of cross country at Johns Hopkins, Diana Schoder of Ardsley,begins fencing at Haverford, Andrew Schunk of Ardsley will swim in his sophomore year. at Geneseo, Coleen Sheridan of Dobbs Ferry joins the rowing crew at Fairfield, James Silverberg of Irvington plays sophomore football at Western New England, Ana Simunovic of Dobbs Ferry will play tennis as a sophomore at St. Thomas Aquinas, Steve Sklar of Ardsley continues track as a junior at Franklin & Marshall, Hastings'Tom Spenser, soccer goalie at Rhode Island,  will be in the nets for the Rams in this, his third year of soccer. Jamie Stein of Ardsley, will play tennis at Colorado, Emma Sweeting, volley ball player at Mount Holyoke,is a Hastings graduate. Sarah Sylla of Ardsley, joins the Cardinal soccer team at Wesleyan,  Sophie Sylla plays her junior year of soccer at Binghamton, Joe Tarricone of Hastings plays wingback as a sophomore at Western New England, Aimee Tavzel of Ardsley, is on the soccer roster soccer at Cornell, Lisa Tessitore, Senior in tennis at Stevens Tech, is a Dobbs Ferry alumna. Ardsley's Kara Weiss, will run her third year of cross country at Queens, Hannah Wilson of Irvington, plays her third season of soccer at Clark,  Brendan Wortner, cross country runner at Geneseo, is a sophomore and alumnus of Dobbs Ferry, and Mac Yumoto of Hastings is a junior midfielder at N.Y.U.
