2013 Bastille Day Menu Favorites: Gazpacho, Steak and French Wine
Both La Panetière in Rye and Bistro Rollin in Pelham will serve gazpacho as an opener and steak as a main course in their prix-fixe Bastille Day dinners this weekend. The meals at both restaurants are wine-paired. Details follow:
La Panetière
The July 14 dinner menu at Jacques Loupiac's La Panetière:
- Chilled gazpacho. Scallop cerviche, asparagus heads
- Maya shrimp with coconut Kaffir lime jus. Mango, shiitake mushrooms, hearts of palm. Wine: 2011 Sauvignon Blanc Nicolas, Côtes de Gascogne
- Seared skatefish. Diced tomatoes, capers, croutons, fines herbs. Wine: 2011 Chardonnay Arancio, Sicily
- Grilled rib eye steak with shallot sauce. Petits legumes farcis. Wine: 2010 Château Beaulieu Comtes des Tastes, Bordeaux Superieur
- Camembert (famous French cheese) with Mascarpone cheese, cranberry, sun-dried tomatoes.Walnut and raisin bread
- Peach melba revisited. Fresh peaches, red currants, almond bisquit, ice cream, Chantilly. Wine: 2013 Vin de Noix, Maison
- Petits fours
Bistro Rollin
The fourth-annual prix-fixe Bastille Day dinner will be available at the Bratone family's Bistro Rollin on Friday-Sunday, July 12-14. Chef Manny Lozano's menu follows:
- Hors d'oeuvres for the table
- White almond gazpacho with homemade croutons
- Summer Vegetable Cannelloni
- Hanger steak with Sauce Verde, shallots and roasted potatoes or braised Romaine stuffed with herbed Quinoa
- Dark chocolate Marquis with Caradamom crème Anglaise

2010 Chateau Saint Sulpice, Bordeaux, France
The cost is $60 per person plus tax and tip.
