Where to go for Breakfast in Irvington

Here are some suggestions for breakfast on Monday through Friday in Irvington.

Coffee shops/light-food eateries

Black Cat Cafe
At Emily Feliciano's casual eatery, the breakfast selections include:

  • Breakfast burrito (10-15 minutes). A variety of breakfast burritos are offered (spicy, traditional, veggie, egg-white), all are available to go. Each burrito is stuffed with fresh scrambled eggs, a variety of artisan cheeses, veggies, bacon, ham and home fries, all go in a utensil-free eating package.
  • Steel Cut Oats (5-10 minutes). Old fashion, Steel Cut oats are super healthy. Add fresh fruit and nuts or go for "the works" with fruit, nuts and a drizzle of pure Vermont maple syrup.
  • Smoothies (5-10 minutes). Blended using a variety of fresh fruits delivered daily, non-fat plain yogurt and a few ice cubes.

Cupcake Kitchen
Besides cupcakes, the dishes that come out of Jennifer O'Connell's kitchen include:
  • Homemade waffles. With fresh fruit or Jane's homemade ice cream (or both)
  • Stuffed French toast. Extra thick Texas toast stuffed with bananas, strawberries or preserves.
  • Three egg omelette (egg whites available). Choice of fillings, home fries and "Baked in Brooklyn" toast (white, wheat, rye or Sourdough)
On the lighter side:
  • Bird in a Nest. One egg fried inside a piece of toast. (A tasty little meal for just $4.50)
100 Main Street, Irvington, NY, 914-231-6261.

MP Stop & Go
Takeout only. The food found here is prepared in the same kitchen used by the restaurant MP Taverna. No tables available inside or outside. Breakfast selections include:
• Whole egg slider on a Martin’s potato roll with cheese, ham or bacon
• Egg-white wrap with cheese, bacon, ham, turkey or chicken
• Panini toast. Offered with peanut butter and seasonal jam, whipped butter and sea salt
• Fresh-baked muffins and pound cake

Red Barn Bakery
The most popular breakfast item bought here is Randell Dodge's Sayulita breakfast cookie (named after Sayulita, Mexico). It contains oatmeal, raisins, coconut, almonds, sunflower seed and mango and is also available by online purchase at the bakery's website.

Breakfast selections also include:
• Mediterranean olive-oil muffin
