Science project, anyone? A researcher at the Hudson Valley Laboratory (part of the state agriculture and extension program) has put out a call to Patch readers for stink bugs.
One of the commenters on our about the invasion of the shield-shaped, smelly, ubiquitous insects, Peter Jentsch is their bounty. And he offers a how-to.
Says Jentsch, "We are looking for high populations of adult brown marmorated stink bugs to add to our colonies at the Hudson Valley Laboratory. You can capture them in a empty 3 liter soda bottle by cutting off the spout, flipping it and placing it back into the container, tape the edge and use it to capture them by sliding the edge under the insect. They will fall into the funnel. Add a baby carrot or two and voila.. they cannot escape. We'll pick them up. Thanks...Peter
