Raising a child with special needs (including those who are receiving services through Early Intervention) adds unique challenges to the parenting process, challenges that can truly be understood only by other parents of children with special needs. Finding those other parents can be a challenge in and of itself, though; this parent-to-parent group aims to rectify that while building a support network, fostering community, and having fun. We'll discuss a wide variety of topics -- those specific to parenting children with special needs but also general parenting situations and concerns that affect parents of typical children as well. The group is composed primarily of parents of infants and toddlers, but parents with children of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate (including those not labeled "special needs" but who are receiving services through Early Intervention) -- your perspective and insights are incredibly valuable. Babies and toddlers are most certainly welcome! Please RSVP to rivertownmamas@gmail.com if you plan on coming.
