Sustainable Dobbs

Join us to celebrate Dobbs Ferry's environmental leadership!

Dobbs Ferry, which has recently achieved state recognition for its climate smart initiatives, will be a sustainability destination on May 10, when the Village’s Energy Task Force will host an event for residents and business owners at the newly renovated high school dining commons from 1-4:30pm.

“Sustainable Dobbs” will share an inspiring glimpse into what has been done in the Village to achieve substantial energy savings, while offering locals ideas for cutting their own utility bills and reducing their carbon footprint.

The afternoon will begin with an expo, with solar installers, energy efficiency contractors, and garden and leaf mulching experts on hand. Visitors can purchase lunch from local restaurateurs as they browse. Featured speakers, beginning at 2pm, will be Mayor Hartley Connett, David Yarnold, President and CEO of the National Audubon Society, and Dobbs Ferry Energy Task Force Chair Nina Orville. Attendees may then participate in group discussions to find out how they can get involved in helping Dobbs Ferry chart new goals in energy and waste reduction.

To register, visit www.sustainabledobbs.eventbrite.com. Early registrants will automatically be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift certificate to Harper's Bar and Restaurant.

Attendees may also pick up compost bins and rain barrels at wholesale prices at the event if they order in advance at www.dobbscompost.eventbrite.com.
