Frank Pagani Marks First Anniversary

Ardsley, NY (September 2013)  Marking his first anniversary as a strategic public relations and marketing consultant and award-winning business writer, Frank Pagani attributes his initial success to leveraging his numerous professional contacts; using social media and public relations to get the word out and launching a creative copywriting service targeted to the growing baby boomer and older generation.

In starting PaganiPR, the veteran, award-winning communications consultant initially reached out to all of his contacts via e-mail, social media, phone calls and one-on-one meetings. Within one month, he secured his first significant assignment—a direct mail and public relations campaign for Howard Greenberg, President of Howard Properties, LLC, one of Westchester’s leading commercial real estate consultants.

That was quickly followed with publicity projects from Anthony Amendola, the new director of sales and marketing for the Water’s Edge Resort & Spa in Westbrook, Connecticut. “I had supported Anthony when he was at Tarrytown House Estate and stayed in touch with him after his departure, pointing out the critical importance of leveraging relationships with people you know when starting a new venture.”

Pagani applauds the support of many individuals in his circle of contacts who gave him endorsements and referrals that in some instances translated into new business. Notable among them are Melissa Weisstuch, Director of Strategy and Communications, Affiliates Risk Management Services, Inc.;  William M. Mooney, Jr., President of the Westchester County Association (WCA); Brian Nickerson, Provost and SVP for Academic Affairs and Dawn Insanalli, Director of Public Relations, Iona College; Rich Friedman, Manager, the DoubleTree by Hilton Tarrytown; Darrin Cirillo and Maria Rambo, owners of Rambillo; Bruce Blackwell, President, Career Strategies International; Marsha Gordon, President, The Business Council of Westchester;  Jeannette Boccini, EVP, LVM Group Inc; Jim Tobin, President, Tobin Communications; Dave and Ellen Rosenbaum, principals and owners, Real-Time Computer Services and Catherine Cioffi, Manager of Marketing, Mercy College and others.

Pagani also made extensive use of social media marketing, especially LinkedIn and Twitter as well as public relations, which significantly widened exposure for his new enterprise. “These platforms, requiring a constant stream of fresh content and press release announcements, definitely generated client engagements and I plan to make even greater use of these practices going forward.”

He also notes that the introduction of My Defining Moments, his new copywriting service to help baby boomers and seniors tell the stories about the events that shaped their lives, has been very well received with projects completed for WCA President Bill Mooney and other business leaders. “With the aging of the population and retirees living longer and healthier lives, I believe the market for My Defining Moments will represent the most growth potential for my business in the years ahead.”

The idea for My Defining Moments began a few months ago when a “Film Score Monthly”: blog post of a personal remembrance by Pagani about how legendary Hollywood composer Alfred Newman inspired his love of classical music went viral. “As a member of the baby boomer plus generation, I thought there might be a market for others in this demographic group who want to share the stories of their lives with family and friends. The response to the press release announcing this new service exceeded my expectations.”

Pagani is drafting another personal defining moments accounting about how his joining the U.S. Air Force led to a successful career in communications. “When I was assigned to the communications division of the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing in Great Britain, I came under the mentorship of Master Sergeant Matthew Barcelona. He taught me everything I know about public relations and community relations. Thanks to him, I became an award-winning editor of the base newspaper, the foundation of my becoming a respected strategic public relations and marketing consultant.”

Pagani is indebted to two organizations that have guided him in successfully launching his business—SCORE of Westchester and the UJA-Federation of New York Connect-to-Care. “The volunteer counselors in these programs helped me to focus on a variety of start-up issues including the development of a sound business plan. Also, the free SCORE workshops featuring presentations by accomplished business leaders in their areas of expertise provided me with an understanding of the basic nuts and bolts needed to start a business. I gained a wealth of practical how-to guidance and tips from some of the best minds in business. The fact that there is no cost for these services is a blessing for start-up business owners like me.”
