To celebrate unity and patriotism during the week of September 11th, Richmond Community Services will do an art project with people who have significant intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities that live in Richmond’s Yonkers Residence and volunteer community members! The project would symbolize the coming together of many Americans on a day that we experienced grief but proved our unity as human beings and Americans.
Volunteer to “reconstruct” the American flag in patches. Each volunteer will be paired up with a person who lives in the residence and given a patch (or more) to decorate. Each patch will be assigned a place on the flag. There will be red, white, and blue art supplies (including sequins, feathers, paint, and more) available, based on what patch the artists are decorating.
Throughout the day, the artists will place their decorated patch in the correct area of the board. The goal is to have a completed flag!
