Westchester County Jeweler Teams with Pets Alive for Fundraiser

Helping Pets Alive deal with the emergency evacuation of its Elmsford shelter will be the event's primary focus, but other highlights will include:

Founder and owner Richie D'Errico heard about the challenges Pets Alive is facing with the recent evacuation of its Elmsford building, and decided to bring in the world's leading pet charm manufacturer as the core of a special event.


"Meche's pet charms are just amazing. They're enameled and colorful, and they look just like the dogs they recreate," Richie says. D'Errico is working with two of the county's leading pet-oriented non-profits, the Westchester SPCA and Pets Alive.


"This is a unique and special event that will both generate resources and draw attention to the needs of homeless pets in Westchester. It's a sign of D'Errico's creativity and generosity that they came up with this event," says Lisa Bonanno, development manager, special events and public relations for the SPCA of Westchester, NY.


Meche has a national reputation for the quality of its pieces, which include everything from dog and cat charms that can be customized to match the color of the pets they represent to a stunning diamond cut in the shape of a dog's head and worth $16,000. That diamond will be on display, and for sale, at the upcoming event.
