Fund for Ferrari Family Goes Online

Friends raising money for the family of the Montrose resident killed in the Metro North train derailment have an online campaign going and a Spaghetti Dinner with Santa coming up.

A fundraising effort dedicated to raising money for the family of Jim Ferrari—the Montrose resident who died in the Dec. 1 train derailment at the Spuyten Duyvil curve in the Bronx—has gone online.

Friends and neighbors created the Fundly page for Ferrari's family.

On the page the organizers included remarks made by Ferrari's brother Charlie at the funeral.

"I heard from co-workers that even when they had to call him at 2 in the morning he would just say “Okay, what did you do?” and then tell them how to fix it or come in without a harsh word being said. This Sunday was no different. He was going to work on a Sunday. He had been doing this for over thirty years. He was providing for his dream,  his family. And he knew and appreciated all his blessings. He gave back to the world. This accident was just not fair."

They've also been raising money the old-fashioned way.

There will be a Spaghetti Dinner Dec. 17 at the Hendrick Hudson High School from 5:30-8:30 put on by the Lions Club.

Adults are $10 and children under 10 are $5.  Santa will be there as well.

Donations may also be sent to
