One of the four graduating pairs is from ECAD's Project HEAL Program, created specifically to help members of the armed services.

By Patricia Robert

One Veteran and three civilians will graduate with their ECAD Service Dogs on August 6, 2014.  The graduation ceremony is open to the public. The Veteran is a graduate of ECAD’s Project HEAL Program, created specifically to help members of the armed services. In addition, six staff members from the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, including the Clinical Director, will be honored for becoming certified handlers of facility dogs.

ECAD educates and places Service Dogs with people with disabilities, both visible and invisible, so that they will lead lives with more independence and mobility. Its main facility is on the campus of Children’s Village in Dobbs Ferry, NY.  Students at CV, and other area schools, help to educate the Service Dogs through the ECADemy Program.
