Author John Searles to Read From New Paranormal Thriller At Spoken Interludes in Hastings Tonight
Three speakers will participate including John Searles, the author of two bestsellers: Boy Still Missing and Strange but True. He is a recurring guest as a book critic on NBC's Today show and CBS's The Early Show. Searles is the Editor-at-Large of Cosmopolitan. The other authors who will appear are Julia Glass and Jennifer Cody Epstein.
The dinner is catered by Navjot Arora, Executive Chef at the restaurant Chutney Masala in Irvington, NY.
Once dinner is over, attendees remain at their tables as three fiction authors participate with brief readings and field questions from the audience. At the end of the program, the novels can be purchased and signed by the authors.
The books
- "And the Dark Sacred Night" is a novel by Julia Glass about a college professor seeking knowledge of the father he has never met. Released by Pantheon on April 1, 2014.
- "Help for the Haunted" is a novel by John Searles about a daughter who investigates the murder of her parents. Released by HarperCollins in 2013.
- "The Gods of Heavenly Punishment" is a novel by Jennifer Cody Epstein set in Japan and about survival in the aftermath of war. Published by W. W. Norton & Company on January 13, 2014
The evening's program
Buffet service begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. when the first author is introduced.
Book signings take place from 8:30 to 9 p.m. The books can be purchased from on-site representatives of The Village Book Store of Pleasantville, NY, by cash, check or credit card.

The cost per person is $25 payable by check or cash at the door. Checks should be made out to Chutney Masala. The RiverView bar serves alcoholic beverages and only accepts cash
