Irvington Plans Sept. 11 Ceremony

Locals will gather at the same Scenic Hudson Park location 12 years after the 9/11 attacks.

The Village of Irvington will again be commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks with a special ceremony next month.

"We are going to have a similar ceremony to what we have had in the past," Mayor Brian C. Smith shared at the last Board of Trustees meeting. "It's a fairly brief ceremony, but I think it's very nicely done and it's a wonderful setting."

He noted the park is a place where many locals came together on Sept. 11, 2001.

"I think it's very important to keep that tradition going," said Smith.

The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Scenic Hudson Park memorial.
