Laurette Schecter died peacefully on May 25, 2013.
Everyone who knew her was dazzled by her warmth and elegance. Beautiful wife of Rabbi Edward Schecter, extraordinary mother to Brooke and Randy Jackson, Eric and Katharine Leinwand and loving stepmother of Sara and David Zuckerman, Adina Schecter and Ian Goldstein, Elie and Sherri Schecter, and Ariel Schecter, adored grandmother of Frida, Ty, Joshua, Zachary, Wesley, Everet, Yael, Ayla, and Micah, and loving sister to Nancy and Roger Preefer.
A creative and glamorous force, Laurette was a dancer, photographer, painter, potter, sculptor, teacher and runner. She loved the sun, treasured her cats, and unfailingly took care of the birds and flowers in her yard. Uniquely and with great kindness, Laurette engaged the world through body, mind, and unstinting spirit.
Memorial Service 2:00pm Wednesday, May 29th Temple Beth Shalom, 740 N Broadway, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706. Contributions may be made to TBS Laurette Schecter Memorial Fund.
