POLL: Who should be the Knicks' Next Head Coach?

Mike D’Antoni is gone and now the Knicks have to decide what is next.

Since the marriage between the Knicks and Mike D’Antoni ended on March 14, the mud is being slung at the former coach and the rumor mill has been going off as to who will be the next head coach in Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks have a very talented roster from top to bottom and Owner James Dolan has deep pockets, so the thought is that the Knicks can get virtually anyone they want. Knowing the Knicks, they will want someone with experience and a proven track record.

For the time being the Knicks have promoted former Atlanta Hawks Head Coach Mike Woodson to Interim Head Coach and in his first game at the helm the Knicks beat up on Portland 121-79.

While Woodson has a very good track record as an NBA Coach, the New York media has been hypothesizing about bigger names like Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan and even John Calipari taking the sideline in New York.

While anyone at this point would get a better response out of the orange and blue faithful then D’Antoni, the Knicks will need a coach that can control the personalities in the locker room and handle the media firestorm that comes with being in Manhattan.

Woodson should stay on the job, and go from what comes of it. The Trailblazers and Pacers know first hand that he is capable.
Antonio March 18, 2012 at 06:46 pm
Get phil jackson, He let's the players know its about the team not about them, their no I spelled in team.
Beauvaisirmin March 18, 2012 at 07:01 pm
I will say the same thing as Antonio, being a New York team coach is not easy, cause any coach in the city needs to understand we New Yorkers need someone who cares about the fans. I believe Phil Jackson would be the perfect coach for the team.
De Voine Gibson March 18, 2012 at 07:03 pm
keep woodson
George Datino March 18, 2012 at 07:06 pm
It really doesn't matter what we think. They need to ask Carmelo who he is willing to play for otherwise it will be just like it was for the last couple of weeks!
nicky delgado March 18, 2012 at 07:20 pm
I think they should allow woodson ti finish the year then start all over next season. With a new coach and possibly trading players
manny saints March 18, 2012 at 07:25 pm
New York is winning. why not keep woodson the players seem to like him and the fans will the record so far speaks for it self....
The truth March 18, 2012 at 07:34 pm
You knicks fans just don't get it! It wasnt dantoni's fault he is a great coach! Carmelo Anthony is a player that would rather look good and lose then look bad and win! He is the problem his ego is to big he's no kobe bryant that's for sure! I would welcome dantoni back to the suns in a sec.
Qpac Shakur March 18, 2012 at 07:36 pm
I say give Woodson a legit shot! He is no scrub coach! And the players respect him!
Charles March 18, 2012 at 07:37 pm
Woodson is great...but if we can recieve someone better such as Phil Jackson, then lets go for it !!! He has stripes with the greatest to ever do it, Michael Jordan.
Charles March 18, 2012 at 07:39 pm
Lets see how far Woodson takes us !! I def think we can do it though in my opinion.
Darnell March 18, 2012 at 07:52 pm
Let Woodson stay for the rest of the year and then decide who should coach next year. New York has a strong team I
can't see them winning a championship this year. Darnell from Philly.
Taryn Randle March 18, 2012 at 08:30 pm
Whatever works best for the Knicks, it jus needs to be Teamwork
Angel de Jesus March 18, 2012 at 08:47 pm
Trade anthony and lin for rondo and brandon bass.
Gret coach Calipari. Win championship!
Will March 18, 2012 at 09:00 pm
They need to give woodson a shot, and if they start to stumble they can get a big name coach like Phil Jackson who lets the players play their game.
James March 18, 2012 at 09:45 pm
D’Antoni said that Carmelo was "uncoachable". From what I've seen, that appears to be accurate. If that is the case, then it really doesn't matter who coaches the Knicks. Anthony will always be a PROBLEM. When he left Denver the team was better off. His ego is outsized. He's a primo uomo and a legend in his own mind. For the team to gel and win games they need to play as a team not like Anthony's supporting cast. If Anthony wants to be a team leader he'd better start logging some Jordan, Bryant or James stats. Otherwise let's be rid of him.

Woodson to finish out the year, then get the Zenmaster - Phil Jackson!
John B March 19, 2012 at 01:34 pm
Get rid of Dolan and Anthony.
Josh Semendoff March 19, 2012 at 01:44 pm
Can we please allow Phil Jackson to settle into retirement??? There are many other good and qualified coaches out there and while the Knicks may have many "stars" now on the team, they can still be managed by a coach with a strong personality...other than Phil Jackson. Heck, bring back Van Gundy!
Mark Rinaldi March 19, 2012 at 04:27 pm
Its pretty impossible to get rid of an owner. Especially when the team is incredibly profitable.
John B March 19, 2012 at 06:55 pm
Mr. Rinaldi; Thank you--- my post was tongue in cheek and wishful thinking.
Mark Rinaldi March 21, 2012 at 10:20 am
Dont look now but Mike Woodson is now 4-0 with the Knicks this season.
Mike Sabini March 21, 2012 at 04:29 pm
Woodson 4-0 is music to my ears.
Big game tonight at Philly. Knicks win this and they can start thinking about the division seriously.
