60-Year-old Accused of Trespassing on Roof

This report was derived from information from the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

An employee of Donald Brown Roofing Company, at 402 Warburton Ave. in Hastings-on-Hudson, reported to police at 4:40 p.m. that there was a man on the roof of the building who was allegedly looking into apartments in the adjacent building.

The suspect fled north on Warburton, however police caught up with him about five minutes later. According to police, 60-year-old Ernest Kirkland admitted to being on the roof, which he did not have permission to be on. Several witnesses told police they saw the suspect on the roof and in the rear yard.

The Yonkers resident was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing in the third degree, a class B misdemeanor. Kirkland could not make his $1,000 bail and was sent to Westchester County Jail.
