Babysitter Accused of Stealing Blank Check in Hastings

A New Rochelle woman has been arrested after a village resident reported a check was cashed.

A babysitter made off a blank check from a local home and then later cashed it, according to the Hastings Police Department.

Police report that on July 5, following an investigation, a 22-year-old New Rochelle resident was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny for the alleged crime.

Investigators say the woman was babysitting at a Lincoln Avenue home on June 21 and left with a blank Citizens Bank Check from the kitchen.

Police say the check was cashed for $480 two days later.

Following her arrest, the woman was released on her own recognizance with an appearance ticket.
