Dobbs Ferry Police Beat: Car Break-Ins, Harassment at Church

In this week's look at all things police-related, several pricey items stolen during a string of unlocked vehicles being entered.

$300 Chanel Sunglasses & iPod Taken from Unlocked Car

1:38 p.m.—A Round Hill Road resident reported that her unlocked Nissan was entered while parked in her driveway. This larceny occurred between 2 p.m. on June 16 and noon on June 17. The perpetrator stole her Chanel sunglasses, valued at $300, her iPod, valued at $200, and $10 in cash. Police are investigating this as a petty larceny, a misdemeanor, as the combined value of items stolen is under $1,000.

$400 Cell Phone Stolen from Unlocked Truck

4:06 p.m.—A Dobbs Ferry resident came into the police station to report that his unlocked Ford pickup truck was entered while parked on Beacon Hill Drive. His Nextel cell phone, valued at $400, was removed from his truck. This incident occurred between 10 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. that day. Police are investigating this as a petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

$60 GPS Stolen from Vehicle

6:27 p.m.—A Ridge Road resident reported that his 2010 Ford was entered while parked outside his residence. His Garmin GPS, valued at $60, was taken. The owner of the vehicle believed the doors were locked, but police found no sign of damage due to forced entry. This occurred between 5:40 p.m. on June 16 to 6 p.m. on the day of the report. Police are investigating this larceny from a vehicle as petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

Woman Threatened at Church

12:50 p.m.—A Dobbs Ferry resident reported verbal harassment at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church She said a man spoke to her in a threatening manner. The complainant said she knows the man—who is not a Dobbs Ferry resident—and that she told police to document the incident.
