Gunshots or Fireworks? Hastings Police Investigate

The Hastings Police Department has recently received multiple calls reporting gunshots in the area.

Hastings Police have recently received multiple reports of gunshot-sounding noises in the village—but in most cases, the sounds have turned out to be fireworks.

On Monday, May 27, officers were dispatched to Columbus Avenue to investigate possible gunshots at 8:51 p.m. Police reported the noise turned out to be fireworks being set off at Union Town Park.

The following day, police responded to Rose Street at 7:04 p.m. after a caller said she saw three men in the woods firing shots. The caller provided descriptions of the men and said they fled toward Farragut Parkway when she yelled at them. Hastings Police said the call appeared to be unfounded—no traces of the men or any shell casings were found at the scene.

On Saturday, June 1 at 7:10 p.m., Greenburgh Police notified Hastings of reported shots fired on Mendham Avenue. GPD later notified village police that the shots were confirmed to actually be fireworks being set off.

Later that night, at 11:03 p.m., Hastings Police received a 911 call reporting gunshots or fireworks on Burnside Drive. Police responded to the address and confirmed there were fireworks being set off. A "large group" was dispersed from the scene.
