Hastings Cops: BBQ Parts Stolen; Porta Potty Tipped

A deer hit by a car and smashed windshields are among some of the recent police-investigated incidents.

Here's a look at some of the recent incidents investigated by the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department:

BBQ Parts Missing
A River Point Road resident contacted police on August 15 and reported he had left a box containing Weber BBQ parts, valued at $90, on his front porch to be picked up by Fed Ex at 10:30 a.m.

The man said he was informed by Fed Ex that the box was gone by 12:15 p.m. when the Fed Ex employee arrived.

The resident said he believes someone stole the box from his porch before Fed Ex arrived.

Mailbox Damage
Police received a call from a person at 10:20 p.m. on August 15 who reported a mailbox was knocked over on Broadway. Responding officers confirmed the mailbox was knocked over and out of its concrete base. Police believe the mailbox may have been struck by a vehicle.

Porta Potty Tipped
A police officer noted at 8:29 a.m. on August 17 that a porta-potty had been tipped over sometime overnight at Reynolds Field.

Police said the structure didn't appear to be damaged.

Vehicle Mischief
Police received a report from Graham School staffers on August 18 that a 20-year-old male student had damaged two vehicles.

The staff members told police both cars' windshields were broken, and windshield wipers on one had also been tampered with. The total damage is $515.48, according to police.

Police were told the incident, which occurred at 12:12 a.m. on August 13, would be handled internally.

Cat in Tree
A Jordan Road resident called police to report his cat was stuck in a tree in his backyard, up about 25 feet off the ground. The animal warden was contacted, but was unable to get the cat down.

Police stayed on the scene until a tree professional was called to the scene.

Fence Hit
A West Main Street resident reported to police her fence had been struck at an unknown time.

Police responded at 7:30 p.m. and reported the fence had been since fixed.

Deer Struck
A 911 caller reported to police at 6:56 a.m. on August 19 that a car hit a deer on Broadway near the Dobbs Ferry border.

Responding police said their was minor damage to the car involved, and no injuries were reported.

The deer fled the scene.
