Hastings Police: Gas Tank Mischief; Harassment Arrest

Here's a look at some of the recent incidents investigated by the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department.

Harassment Arrest

Police reported the arrest of a 20-year-old Graham School student at 6:30 p.m. on July 10 in connection with an incident that allegedly took place on June 30.

The man was charged with violation Harassment in the Second Degree after a fellow 18-year-old student said he slapped him in the face, causing his glasses to fall off.

The incident, which did not result in a visible injury, was reported to police on July 2.

The suspect was processed and arraigned and released on his own recognizance, pending a July 17 court date.

Butt Grab

A resident went into police headquarters at 9:30 p.m. July 13 and told police that while he and his wife were waiting to watch the laser light show in the Municipal Building parking lot, a man grab his wife buttocks and muttered an obscene word. The couple declined to press charges, but Hastsings Police identified the subject as a man who was previously arrested for burglary in the village in 2010. The 46-year-old Dobbs Ferry resident was transported via patrol car to his home.

Paper Towels in Gas Tank

A woman called police at 6:04 p.m. July 13 and reported a gas station attendant told her there were paper towels pushed into her gas tank. She stated she had only traveled in Hastings for the past two days.

Curb Your Dog, Neighbors Ask

Police received two recent reports of a dog curbing violation on Whitman Street.

The first came in from a resident of the street on July 9 at 2:56 p.m. The caller told police a woman was carrying a bag and pretending to pick up after her dog on a regular basis. Police were unable to immediately locate the dog walker.

On July 11, another resident called at 3:38 p.m. and reported witnessing a woman pretend to pick up her dog's feces on Whitman Street. The caller told police he had recorded the incident on his iPhone and would email it to the Police Department.

One Injured in Dispute

A patrol officer on West Main Street at approximately 5:20 a.m. on July 11 reported he was with two males having a dispute. One of the men said he was having pain in his head and one of his arms. He was transported via Hastings Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Dobbs Ferry Hospital.

At 9:30 p.m. that day, police reported depositions were filed regarding the accident and photos of the injuries were filed.
