Helicopter and K-9 Units Deployed in Dobbs Ferry Suspect Search

Local morning commuters were delayed Wednesday morning after police cars from the Irvington, Ardsley, Greenburgh and Westchester County took over Dobbs Ferry streets while searching for a suspect.

The search also required the help of local K-9 and helicopter units.

The suspect—a black male, who is about 6 feet 2 inches, 30-years of age and wearing blue jeans and a yellow traffic-type vest —was stopped by Dobbs Ferry Police around 10 a.m. Wednesday for a suspended registration at the intersection of Broadway and Langdon Avenue in Dobbs Ferry.

He jumped out of his vehicle as the officer approached his car and fled on foot south. The officer suffered a dislocated shoulder while trying to catch the suspect, was relieved from duty and treated at in Dobbs Ferry. 

The suspect, who was driving a vehicle that was registered to a female in Amityville, NY, is still at large. Police have not been able to contact the owner of the vehicle or determine if the vehicle was stolen.
