Numerous Hastings Residents Report Car Break-Ins
Most vehicles were unlocked at the time, according to police.
A number of Hastings-on-Hudson residents reported overnight vehicle break-ins to police the morning of July 16.
The first caller, a Pinecrest Drive resident, told police at 6:59 a.m. his unlocked vehicle was parked in the driveway overnight and had been rifled through. He reported $600 Ray Ban tortoiseshell sunglasses and $30 iPhone headphones missing. The man said there were other vehicles in his driveway that were locked at the time and unaffected.
A second Pinecrest Parkway resident called police at 8:40 a.m. and said one of her three vehicles was entered overnight and was unlocked at the time. She reported $50 earbud headphones were missing.
A third Pinecrest Parkway resident also told police at 9:07 a.m. that one of her three vehicles, which was the only one unlocked, had been entered overnight, but nothing appeared to be missing.
That afternoon, police were contacted by a Maple Avenue resident at 12:21 p.m. who reported his daughter's unlocked vehicle was entered overnight and was missing $50 in cash.
A Ridge Street resident also reached out to police at 1:18 p.m. and stated his vehicle, parked in a parking deck overnight, was unlocked and rifled through overnight. Nothing was missing, he told police.
The final report of the day came from a Warburton Avenue resident who said at 4:51 p.m. that his locked vehicle was entered through a rear sliding window sometime overnight. He stated the window was damaged during the heft and $50 in cash was removed from a pocket under the pickup truck's radio.
The following day, a Warburton Avenue resident told police a vehicle was also entered the night of July 15. He told police $30 in currency and a pair of $25 sunglasses were gone.
