NYS Justice Center: Dobbs Ferry’s Children’s Village Employee Arrested for Assault

A Children’s Village employee is being charged with two counts of assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child after he “stomped on the victim’s face,” the New York State Justice Center announced Thursday, Nov. 21.

The 43-year old Bronx man was arrested Thursday for assaulting a resident in his care following an investigation conduction by the Justice Center, which is a facility licensed by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

All three charges are class “A” misdemeanors, Justice Center said.

NYS Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs Special Prosecutor Patricia E. Gunning said the incident first came to the attention of law enforcement officials when it was reported to the Justice Center’s Vulnerable Persons Central Register (VPCR) Hotline.  A call center representative then opened a case-tracking file before Justice Center investigators launched an investigation, Justice Center said.

According to the complaint, the defendant allegedly stomped on the victim’s face while the victim was being restrained. The defendant was arraigned on the charges in the Village of Dobbs Ferry Justice Court and released on his own recognizance. An order of protection was issued by the court, Justice Center said.
