After an extensive investigation, Tarrytown Police today report the arrest of an Elmsford man charged with assault and attempted rape following a stabbing incident at the Tarrytown DoubleTree Hotel.

Silvio R. Illescas, 40, of 79 No Goodwin Ave., Elmsford, is being held at police headquarters this morning pending his arraignment in Village Court for the stabbing of a young woman allegedly working as an escort.

Lieutenant William Herguth said police received a call around 2 a.m. on February 23 from an employee at the DoubleTree hotel saying there had been a commotion in the hallway and blood found there.

Police arrived and found the victim, a 23-year-old woman with a gash on the side of her neck. The woman was transported by Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Westchester Medical Center, where she received stitches and was released later that morning.

The woman told police that she met a man at the hotel after making contact with him online. She said she advertises her escort services on BackPage.com. The man allegedly came to her room around 1:30 a.m. and between then and 2 a.m., said Herguth, the "altercation occurred."

The man allegedly displayed the knife and the woman was cut. The woman was able to exit the room and flee and the man left by car before police arrived.

Herguth said their investigation linked this man with Greenburgh police investigation of two similar cases.

Greenburgh police told LoHud.com that they were charging Illescas with first degree rape following two separate incidents at Greenburgh hotels. A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped at knifepoint at the La Quinta Hotel, and another 29-year-old raped at the Westchester Marriott. Both were escorts advertising their services on the Backpage website. Read more on these incidents here.

Silvio R. Illescas is charged in Tarrytown with:

  • attempted rape in the first degree, a C felony
  • and assault in the second degree, a D felony
